Versatility key to success in events industry – MC Kajoe

Compereand teens coach, Kajopelaye Gabriel, popularly known as MC Kajoe, has said Nigeria’s events industry has become increasingly competitive, requiring professionals to go beyond talent by developing versatility, adaptability and strong interpersonal skills to remain relevant. Speaking on the changing dynamics of the industry, Kajoe said, “I don’t see myself as just a master of ceremonies. I see myself as someone who engineers experiences. Every event is unique, and my responsibility is to understand the audience, manage the atmosphere, solve challenges in real time and ensure everyone leaves with memories they will never forget.” He also noted that the role of event hosts has evolved beyond making announcements, with clients increasingly seeking professionals who can engage audiences, manage unexpected situations and elevate the overall event experience. According to Kajoe, versatility has become one of the industry’s most valuable assets. “I am multi-talented. I sing, dance, crack clean and ethical jokes, hype when the moment calls for it and, most importantly, I know how to read the room. I use these abilities strategically to create the right experience because every audience deserves a unique approach,” he said. Beyond hosting events, Kajoe added that he is expanding his focus to community building through MinglesConnect, a networking platform designed to bring together singles, couples and young professionals seeking meaningful social interactions. According to him, the initiative was created to provide a safe environment where people can build friendships, expand their professional networks and form genuine relationships through curated social experiences.
