Super Eagles set for four-nation invitational tournament in Jordan

The Nigeria national football team will compete in a four-nation invitational tournament in Amman during next month’s FIFA Men’s International Window as part of preparations for upcoming international commitments. Nigeria will open their campaign against the Iran national football team on Friday, 27 March 2026, at the Amman International Stadium, which has a 17,000-seat capacity. On the same day, hosts Jordan national football team will face the Costa Rica national football team at the larger King Abdullah II Stadium, which accommodates more than 60,000 spectators. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday, 31 March, with Nigeria taking on Jordan at the Amman International Stadium, while Costa Rica and Iran clash at the King Abdullah II Stadium. Kick-off times for all four fixtures are expected to be confirmed by organisers in the coming days. Chelle Eyes Squad Reinforcement Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to use the competition to integrate new players into the squad and test tactical adjustments following Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign. Off the field, the Nigeria Football Federation is awaiting a ruling from FIFA over a petition alleging that the DR Congo national football team fielded ineligible players during a decisive playoff tie. The decision, due on 16 February 2026, could potentially reopen Nigeria’s path to the inter-confederation playoffs scheduled to be held in Mexico. In the meantime, the Amman invitational tournament will offer the Super Eagles valuable competitive matches against opponents from Asia, Central America and the Middle East as they seek to maintain cohesion and momentum amid uncertainty over their World Cup qualification prospects.
