Shooting Stars Sports Club recorded a 2–1 victory over Rivers United in a rescheduled Matchday 28 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) played on Thursday night at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasinga, in Ibadan. Sodiq Ibrahim gave the hosts the lead in the 24th minute after converting a fine assist from Ayobami Abiodun. Rivers United responded in the second half and drew level through Wasiu Falolu, who scored the equaliser 21 minutes from time. The victory lifted Shooting Stars to sixth position on the league table, while Rivers United remained at the top of the standings despite the defeat. Shooting Stars will next host Wikki Tourists in a Matchday 30 fixture this weekend, while Rivers United will travel to face Ikorodu City on Sunday.
