The Social Democratic Party on Wednesday praised its 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, and members of its National Working Committee for remaining loyal to the party and helping to rebuild it after its defeat in the last general election.SDP National Chairman, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, gave the commendation during a world press conference in Abuja, where he also expressed confidence that the party would present credible candidates for the 2027 general elections.Adebayo was the SDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election won by the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu, who was eventually declared winner by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, after the February 25 poll.The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, finished second and third respectively.Reflecting on the party’s journey since the election, Gombe said the SDP had survived internal and external challenges because its members chose to remain committed to the party rather than defect.He said, “It took sheer hard work for us to be where we are today.
