Rwanda Captain Bizimana Unfazed by Super Eagles’ Star Power

Kigali, March 21, 2025 – Rwanda captain Djihad Bizimana has insisted that the Amavubi are not intimidated by the star-studded Super Eagles squad ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Kigali. Despite Nigeria being favorites for Friday’s clash at the Amahoro Stadium, Bizimana dismissed any fears about facing the three-time African champions, emphasizing that his team is fully focused on their preparations. “There’s nothing to worry about,” Bizimana said at a press conference on Thursday. “We have already faced them twice, and most of their players are the same, so there is nothing to be concerned about. We respect them as a big team with big names, but we are focused on what we are doing in training.” The Al Ahli (Libya) midfielder further assured fans that the Rwandan team is ready to give their all against the Super Eagles. “We will go out and try to give 100%, even 150%, because we know they are a good team and really want to win this game to return to the top,” he added. Nigeria, currently fifth in Group C, is under pressure to secure their first win in the qualifiers, while Rwanda is also looking to boost their chances of making it to the 2026 World Cup.
