Police arrest 27-year-old suspected cultist in Lagos, recover firearm



Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist and recovered a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro area of Lagos.According to the Command, officers intercepted a motorcycle conveying three passengers when the suspect, identified as Yusuf Lamina Adigun, 27, was found in possession of the weapon.This was in statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on July 4, 2026.“During the search, one of the passengers, Yusuf Lamina Adigun, a 27-year-old male, was found in possession of a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge,” the police said.The Command stated that during preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to membership of the Eiye Confraternity and disclosed details of an alleged planned attack.It read, “During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.
