Osun 2026: APC not relying on federal might for victory — Oyebamiji

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the next Osun governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has said the party would work hard to win the poll without relying on external influence. Oyebamiji made the disclosure in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday, while speaking at the Ramadan lecture organised by the Concerned Muslim Stakeholders and League of Alfas Osun State. Accompanied by chieftains of APC from Osun, Oyebamiji said before he emerged the candidate of his party, he moved round the state, consulting stakeholders in local government areas and other key decision makers. He said Osun APC, having worked hard to reach the current level of its acceptance in the state, was not relying on federal might to win the next governorship poll. “There is no way we can rely on federal might. Don’t forget we have done consultation throughout 30 local governments and area office of the state, we have consulted all the traditional rulers in the state, we have consulted men and women. “We are working and will continue to work hard until we have the opportunity to be the Governor of Osun State. So, there is nothing like federal might. We have to do our work and we have to deliver in a very good manner, character, behavior to both men, women and every citizen of Osun,” he said. He further said, “That is the only thing that can liberate us. I appeal strongly that each and everyone should go to their ward, so that they can collect their PVC because it’s the only instrument that can take the current government out of office.” Earlier, the guest lecturer at the event, Prof. Kamaldeen Busari, extolled Oyebamiji’s devotion to Islam, saying he “is not a religious impostor, not a religious charlatan, not a spiritual fraudster, not a false devotee. He’s not someone who will lie to do something. “This is our incoming Governor, just like President Bola Tinubu asserted before his election that it is his turn to be the President, I can say categorically that it is the turn of AMBO to be the Governor of this state.” The PUNCH reports that voters in Osun State will go to the polls on August 15 to elect a governor, and Oyebamiji, running on the platform of APC, is contesting against the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of Accord.
