Super Eagles forward David Okereke is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to Turkish Super Lig side, Kocaelispor. Sources close to the player confirmed that the 26-year-old has agreed personal terms with the newly promoted club and could be unveiled in the coming days. Okereke, who spent the 2024/2025 season on loan at Gaziantep from Serie B side Cremonese, impressed with a tally of 10 goals and three assists in 30 league appearances. Kocaelispor’s technical director, Selçuk İnan, who previously coached Okereke at Gaziantep, is believed to be instrumental in pushing for the striker’s arrival as the club prepares for its return to the Turkish topflight. Meanwhile, Kasimpasa have also shown interest in the Nigerian international, but Kocaelispor are currently in pole position to secure his signature.
