Uyo, April 6,2025 (NAN) Ondo State athletes at the ongoing Niger Delta Sports Festival have added two more gold medals to its medal haul in the game of Tennis and Wrestling. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Henry Aina, won Gold after defeating Rivers’ Joshua Maxwell in the men’s single final at the Ultra fit Sports Club on Sunday in Uyo. Also, in the third place match of the same event, Imole Adisa, won bronze after defeating John Numbari of Rivers. Meanwhile, in Wrestling 62kg category, Asaolu Esther from Ondo State won gold medal, while Umamma Albudraman won sliver medal in the 57kg category, both in the female events. Ondo State female basketball team also qualified for the final of the competition after defeating Bayelsa 35-18 points to play Rivers, who also defeated Delta 35-27 points. The Tennis Gold Medalist, Henry Aina, told NAN that he was elated and grateful for the opportunity to represent the state. Aina appreciated his coach, Mayowa Sunday, and all the members of the association for their time and commitment to him that enabled his victory. “I am happy that I am a gold medalist in this event and I really pray that we do well in other events,” he said.
