KWANKWASO RESIGNS FROM NNPP, SET TO JOIN PETER OBI AND ATIKU IN ADC.

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State Governor and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect.

In a press statement released on Sunday, March 29, 2026, Kwankwaso cited the need for “strategic realignment” in the nation’s political landscape to better pursue national change ahead of the 2027 general elections. He expressed gratitude to the NNPP leadership, including National Chairman Ajuji Ahmed, the Board of Trustees, and all party members for their support.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement, through its spokesperson Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, announced that Kwankwaso will formally register as a member of the *African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 12 p.m. at his residence, Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano.

The movement has directed all its members across Nigeria to immediately register with the ADC in their respective wards, local government areas, and states.

This move marks Kwankwaso’s exit from the NNPP a party he helped build and under which he was the 2023 presidential candidate and his entry into the ADC as part of broader opposition realignment efforts. The development comes amid reported consultations with other opposition figures.

The formal registration ceremony is expected to take place in Kano tomorrow.
