Katsina United declares Uche Collins AWOL, warns clubs against illegal approach

Katsina United have declared their midfielder, Uche Collins, Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) after the player reportedly went missing from the team. The announcement was made on Friday by the club’s chairman, Surajo Umar Baba, in a statement addressing the development. According to Baba, Collins has not reported to the club since their Nigeria Premier Football League match against Rangers International FC on February 22, 2026, which was played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina. The chairman stressed that the midfielder remains a contracted player of the club, popularly known as the Chanji Boys, until the end of the 2026/2027 season. Baba warned that any club attempting to recruit or sign Collins without the consent of Katsina United would face legal action. “Any club found negotiating or recruiting the player without due clearance from the club risks facing a lawsuit,” the statement said. Collins has been one of the standout performers for Katsina United over the past two seasons and played a key role in the team’s performances in the league. He was named the club’s Player of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign following a string of impressive displays.
