Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is set to complete a move to Serie A newcomers Cremonese, with the veteran forward expected to arrive in Italy this weekend. The 38-year-old, who left Leicester as a free agent in June, is due to fly into Italy on Sunday before undergoing a medical on Monday. He is expected to sign a one-year deal, with an option for an additional season if Cremonese secure survival in the top flight. Despite interest from Dutch champions Feyenoord, Cremonese are confident of sealing the signing of the ex-England international, whose experience and goal-scoring pedigree are seen as vital to their campaign. Vardy, who joined Leicester from non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012, became a club legend over more than a decade at the King Power Stadium. His crowning moment came in the 2015/16 season, when he spearheaded the Foxes’ astonishing Premier League title triumph under Claudio Ranieri. If the deal goes through, it will mark Vardy’s first spell outside of English football, as he prepares to test himself in Italy’s top division with Cremonese.
