Iwobi scores as Fulham edge Spurs 2–1 at Craven Cottage

London — Alex Iwobi was on target as Fulham F.C. secured a 2–1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday. Iwobi’s goal means the Nigerian midfielder has now scored in back-to-back Premier League matches, following his effort in last weekend’s 3–1 away win against Sunderland. Harry Wilson handed Fulham the lead in the seventh minute before Iwobi doubled the advantage in the 34th minute to put the hosts firmly in control. Brazilian forward Richarlison pulled one back for Spurs, but it proved insufficient to deny Fulham all three points. The victory lifts Fulham to ninth place on 40 points in the league standings, strengthening their push for a top-half finish. Also in action for the hosts, Calvin Bassey played the full 90 minutes, while Samuel Chukwueze was introduced in the 72nd minute. Iwobi was substituted in stoppage time. Elsewhere, at Old Trafford, Chrisantus Uche remained on the bench as 10-man Crystal Palace F.C. fell 2–1 to Manchester United F.C.. Meanwhile, Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi featured for Nottingham Forest F.C. in their 2–1 away defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion F.C..
