Ikhana discharged, remains under medical watch

Lagos, July 19, 2025 (NAN) Nigeria’s former Super Eagles international, Kadiri Ikhana, has been discharged from Irrua Specialist Hospital, Edo. He, however, remains under close and strict medical observation. This development follows weeks of intensive treatment at the hospital, where Ikhana was admitted for an undisclosed illness. Doctors say his condition is being closely monitored. Harrison Jalla, Chairman of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) Task Force, confirmed the discharge to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday. Jalla expressed deep appreciation to the many Nigerians who called, visited, or sent messages of goodwill to Ikhana and his family during this difficult time. He specifically praised the unwavering support of Ikhana’s three sons, his sister, Austin Braimoh, and veteran football icon, Chief Segun Odegbami. According to Jalla, these individuals played critical roles in ensuring Ikhana received timely care and constant emotional support throughout his stay at the hospital. He also commended Chief Adokie Amiesimaka, the Edo government, and other well-meaning Nigerians who have stayed in touch and offered help. Jalla stated that their efforts not only sustained Ikhana but also inspired unity within the football community in support of one of its legends. He assured the public that relevant authorities will continue to receive updates on Ikhana’s health and the next recommended steps in his recovery. He further urged Nigerians to keep praying for the full recovery of the celebrated coach, who once led Enyimba FC to continental glory. (NAN)
