The candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for the Obi II State Constituency seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Bishop Ezekiel Musa, has decried what he described as the poor representation of the constituency by the incumbent lawmaker, Luka Zhekaba, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.Musa, a Christian cleric, said despite representing the constituency for two terms in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, the area remained underdeveloped and lacked basic social amenities. The NDC candidate made the remarks while speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital. He explained that although he had spent most of his life outside Nasarawa State, he was always disturbed by the level of underdevelopment in the constituency whenever he visited his community.Musa, who pastors a ministry with branches in Abuja, Lagos and Rivers states, lamented the poor state of roads, the declining education sector, inadequate access to potable drinking water, poor healthcare facilities and other challenges facing residents of the constituency. He said, “All my life, I have been staying outside my state. I have lived in Rivers State, Lagos and Abuja. I have seen development. I have travelled outside this country and seen how politicians develop their communities.“I’m currently running a non-governmental organisation that provides humanitarian services because I believe the less privileged in society deserve regular support to improve their livelihoods. But I want to do more for my people.Related NewsCourt fixes July 7 for hearing in PDP, INEC suit2026: Osun deserves better governance — APGA candidateAPC presents INEC nomination form to Kwara gov candidate“Anytime I come to my community, I don’t see any new development, and I always feel unhappy. Then I prayed to God to stir my heart to contest for the House of Assembly and help me win so that I can work for my people. That is why I ventured into politics.”He told journalists that, as a cleric, he was not contesting to loot public funds or deceive the people for personal gain, but to serve his constituents and ensure they benefited from regular empowerment programmes.Musa reiterated his commitment to promoting quality legislation and providing solutions to the challenges facing the people if elected in the 2027 general elections.“I came to bring development. I came to do what they have not been doing. I’m coming with a different blueprint to work for my people. Whatever you can think of in terms of development is what I’m coming to do.“We don’t have a general hospital. We don’t have good roads. We don’t have potable water. These are some of the things I am coming to address,” he said.Musa also promised to establish a scholarship scheme aimed at helping children from less-privileged families in the constituency access quality education if elected to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly in 2027.
