Minister of Education, Prof. Olatunji Alausa, has assured Nigerians that the government will prevent disruptions to academic activities despite ongoing disputes with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Alausa emphasized the government's commitment to constructive engagement with ASUU and other trade unions. He maintained that negotiations are being conducted with mutual respect and will not be debated in the media.
Alausa also announced reforms in the education sector, including the adoption of computer-based testing by WAEC and NECO to curb exam malpractice and improve learning outcomes. WAEC will conduct its first computer-based exam in November, with plans to fully adopt CBT by next year. This initiative aims to promote hard work and raise the quality of learning.
