The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicius Dozie, has appealed to the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, for urgent intervention on the rehabilitation of FUTO’s access roads.
Prof. Dozie made the request during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/CEO of FERMA in Abuja. The VC was in the Federal Capital Territory for a House of Representatives Committee on Procurement meeting and another meeting of Federal Universities offering Medicine organized by the Federal Ministry of Education.
While at FERMA, Prof. Dozie highlighted the importance of a motorable access road to the smooth running of academic and administrative activities in the university, and asked for the agency’s support to address the current state of the road.
In response, the FERMA Managing Director/CEO congratulated Prof. Dozie on his appointment and assured him of the agency’s commitment to assist the university within its mandate.
He said FERMA’s technical team would be deployed to assess the road and explore immediate intervention options.
Prof. Dozie thanked the FERMA boss for granting the meeting on short notice and for the warm reception. He also commended the agency’s willingness to partner with FUTO to improve key infrastructure for staff and students.
