Chippa United confirms exit of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali

South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United have officially confirmed the departure of Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali after approving his formal request to leave the club. In a statement released on Wednesday, 5 February, the Eastern Cape–based club announced that Nwabali had asked to be released from his contract and that the management, after careful deliberation, agreed to grant the request. “Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release,” the statement read. The announcement brings to an end Nwabali’s stay at the club, where he had established himself as one of the key figures in the team and a fan favourite. Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 and quickly rose to prominence with a string of impressive performances in the South African top flight. His profile soared further after his outstanding displays for the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where he played a crucial role in Nigeria’s run to the final and earned continental acclaim.
