Chippa United Coach Hints at Possible Exit for Nwabali Amid Transfer Interest

Port Elizabeth, April 9, 2025 — Chippa United head coach, Thabo September, has suggested that Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali could be on his way out of the club this summer. Nwabali, 28, signed a new three-year contract with the South African side in 2024 and was named club captain following his impressive performances. However, the Super Eagles shot-stopper continues to attract interest from clubs outside South Africa. Speaking to Far Post, Coach September acknowledged that the club may lose some key players during the transfer window, including Nwabali. “We will lose some, but there’s definitely the core we will keep,” he said. “It’s football. When you want to make your team better, then you sell your better players and invest in younger players and try to be stable.” Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, and has since established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the DStv Premiership, as well as a regular for the Nigerian national team.
