APC WARD CHAIRMAN BEATEN UP DURING MONEY-SHARING IN ENUGU STATE, SEEKS JUSTICE.

The Ward 5 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State was allegedly assaulted and had his clothes torn by some party members during a dispute over the distribution of money.

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 9, 2026, shortly after a ward meeting. According to the chairman’s account in a widely circulated video, he was preparing to share money meant for party faithfuls when he was attacked.

He alleged that the youth leader, Ekene Okoye, the assistant organising secretary, Munachi Echi, and one Paulinus Ona (also referred to as Paulinus Onah) pounced on him, slapping him multiple times and tearing his clothes in the process.

Footage showing the chairman in a disheveled state, with his green traditional attire badly damaged, has gone viral on social media platforms. In the video, he narrates the ordeal and appeals for justice.

As of May 10, 2026, there has been no official reaction from the APC Enugu State leadership regarding the matter, and it is unclear whether any formal complaints or disciplinary actions have been initiated.

This incident is the latest example of intra-party conflicts in Nigeria, frequently triggered by disagreements over the sharing of funds and other resources. The story continues to generate discussions online, with many condemning the violence within the party.

Further developments are awaited.
